How to bond with your baby before it’s born with the latest 3D and 4D ultrasound technology
For expectant parents, the first ultrasound is a life changing moment they will remember forever. No matter whether you have been trying for years, or your miracle was a welcomed surprise, seeing and hearing your baby’s heartbeat cements the reality of a new journey. Seeing your baby face to face takes the experience to a whole new level, with modern technology allowing you to see your unborn child with unbelievable clarity using non-medical 3D or 4D ultrasound capabilities. This combined with an incredibly comfortable and nurturing setting creates beautiful memories with your partner and your bundle of joy!
What is the difference between the standard 2D ultrasound and the 3D/4D ultrasounds?
With 3D and 4D scans, you see your baby’s skin and physical features rather than the inside of their body, which is normally seen in a 2D ultrasound. 3D and 4D scans send waves from different angles to help create a high definition picture (3D) or live video (4D) of your baby, whereas a 2D scan will only send waves from one angle to create a black and white still image.
When is the best time to have a 3D or 4D ultrasound?
The best time for a 3d/4d ultrasound is at 29 weeks. At this stage in your pregnancy, your baby has a bit more body weight, their eyes have opened and the baby isn’t too big, so there is movement you’ll be able to see live on screen. The 3D photos are beautiful and you can get a sneak peak of who your baby is going to look like with properly formed features.
How the 3D or 4D ultrasound is done
For the 3D and 4D ultrasound experience at Premiere Ultrasound, you’ll lie down or recline in a comfy chair and our technician will put a special gel on your belly (this helps carry the sound waves). Then the technician will hold a probe against your belly and move it around to get an image. You’ll be soothed by the ocean just outside and all efforts will be made to make sure your experience is comfortable, memorable and beautiful.
Connecting with your baby before the birth
Babies develop the ability to hear from around 18 weeks of pregnancy, so your baby hears you speaking and singing to him or her throughout your pregnancy. This is a great way to feel more connected, and will allow your precious bubba to become familiar with your unique sound. During your 3D or 4D ultrasound experience, you are welcome to speak with your unborn baby and watch the interaction live on screen.
Music is also a powerful tool for mental and emotional development of your unborn child. If you have any particular songs that you love and want to share, these can be played to your baby during the ultrasound experience. You may even see your baby enjoying the music right before your eyes, so sharing your love of Beyonce could begin in the womb if you wish.
See your unborn child’s features
Not until recently have we ever had this much clarity in ultrasound technology. With an ultrasound in 3D or 4D, you’ll receive photos and video footage of your baby from all sides, allowing you to see which features your baby has taken from Mum and Dad. Does your baby have your nose? Or can you see your partner’s features blended with your own? This is exciting and fascinating to witness, especially before you get to hold your baby in your arms. The visual aspect of the experience is one that strengthens the bonds of your growing family.
Memories to share with your family and friends
Seeing your unborn baby move inside you is an experience that you will love, but your family and friends will also love seeing your new family addition early too! As part of the Premiere Ultrasound experience, you’ll be given professionally edited digital images and video of your baby, conveniently saved to a USB and sent to your email to share with whoever you wish.
The bottom line
Getting in touch with your baby is just like getting in touch with yourself, which we know is an important part of living a healthy life. Utilizing the latest ultrasound technology allows you to establish a bond with your unborn baby pre-birth and puts yourself in the best possible position to take on the reality of motherhood, embracing it wholly.
